How confident are you?

Hello, Good Readers :D
It's been a few posts I did not give you a greeting before my writing. I was just kind of confused and really did not intended to write anything. However, today will be different.

In today's post, I would like to give some reviews from chapters of the book that its synopsis I have told you in my previous post. Yeap. The 365 Steps to Self-confidence by David Lawrence Preston. On the previous post, I had not tell you why I chose this book as my reading.

We do know there are a lot of people who do not feel good about theirselves, who are not confident, and what they could do is just doubting theirselves all the time. Unfortunalety, I am one of those people. Due to I do really want to be a confident person, to accept all parts of myself, to love my good and my bad, and um so I decided to read a book that may be could help me to get rid off this unconfidence out of my life. So guys, let check this one out! Hope it can help you too if you are one of those people as well.

Chapter 1 - How to build confidence - an overview

This chapter introduced the main formula for building confidence that would be the stone for every steps written on this book. According to the writer of this book, David, there are five elements that would be the stone of building confidence, including self-awarness, intention, thinking, imagination, and acting 'as if'. Now, I will give you a bit explanation about those five elements below.

1. Self-awarness. It means we need to know ourselves, acknowledge that there are aspects of ourselves that we wish we could change, and understand what has stopped us feeling confident so far.

The other elements are actually has taken from I-T-I-A Formula which are essential. The explanation of those four elements will be explained right on below.

2. Intention. We need to assert our intention to be confident, and make a commitment.
3. Thinking. Change the way we think about ourselves. This also includes changing restrictive attitudes and our beliefs.
4. Imagination. Use our imagination to imagine ourselves as confident persons.
5. Act 'as if' we are already confident. The more we speak and behave confidently, the more confident we will become.

We would be introduced to these five elements on this book in small,  practical steps to make it as easy as possible for us to follow.

The chapter one consists of 7 steps to build our confidence. Especially, the steps on this chapter are mostly about the preview of our comprehension about ourselves, what we actualy want and about what confidence is. As I told you on the previous post, you will need a note to write and record your experiences while you will be reading this book.

Finally, this chapter is closed with this a very motivational words:
"Decide right now to treat yourself with love and respect and accept only the best of yourself for the rest of your life".
That words suddenly made me feel motivated to love and accept myself more. I hope that could give a positive effect for you, too.

Chapter 2 - How confident are you?

This chapter talked about how confidence relate to self-esteem and self-image. Self-esteem is your assessment of your self-worth and feelings of belonging, while self-image is the way you see yourself.

According to this book, David has opinion that there are three core feelings and beliefs that be able to build our self-image. First, how comfortable we are being ourselves and the range which we feel worthy of happiness and success which next the term is called as self-worth. Second, competence. It is about our beliefs about our capacity to achieve, solve problems and think for ourselves. This term is what he means by confidence. The last one is belonging. Belonging is about whether you feel accepted as respected by others.

This chapter also consists of 7 steps. Every step on this book is about how high we think our score of our self-image, self-worth, and self-esteem. On the last steps of this chapter, David has given us a tip. He told us to try to smile at ourselves in the mirror every morning, then we would be surprise what a difference it coukd make on our days. Also, smile at ourselves at night before sleeping, because this will bring us a sweet dreams and programme our subconscious mind to feel good about ourselves.

On this chapter, David also have told us a story about him. It was a long ago, when he once took a part in a radio-phone in, then he met a studio presenter who seemed likely to underestimate his appearance. The studio presenter said that David did not look like a person who wrote books about confidence. From this experience, he told us to realize that these kind of people are always going to be exist no matter how wealthy we are. However, we do need to care. We do not need to hear them, because confident is about our freedom to feel anything, to do anything, and to wear anything we want. So, if you meet those kind of people in your real lives, just do not ever give them a thing.

The last, he has said that confident people do not need to show off, or impose themselves on others. We may have high expectations about ourselves, however we also have to know that our self-worth are independent of our achievements, and also that we do not always have to be perfect.

And that is all. Thank you for reading my post. I hope it would be useful for you as this is useful for me. See you on many more reviews of the chapters of the 365 Steps to Self-confidence. Much Love.
